I ordered Rocky Mountain Water home delivery service for one year. I started this service in October of 1999. I was tyring to increase my food storage / water storage before the year 2000. At the commencement of my service, I ordered AND PAID FOR 7 - 5 gallon bottles of water for this purpose. The serviceman who sold this service to me, explained to me that I would not have to return the bottles. He knew why I purchased the water and said he would not collect them if they were unused.
Over the course of my service, the serviceman/deliveryman would do all sorts of things to increase the price I was paying for this service. (I got a great deal $4.50 for 5 gallons of water). Among the things he did were, when I was not home, he would leave sports bottles on my front door step and later tell me he didn't have any of the regular bottles for me and that I would have to pay a higher price for these; He would not keep accurate accounting records and I had to double check him everytime. There was a complete lack of trust. At the end of the service I was receiving 6 -1 gallon jugs (unlike the 5 I was used to) and being charged $6.40. He claimed that they had to up the price because there was another bottle in the mix. That upped the price to $1.07 per bottle when I was only paying $. 90 per bottle originally.
These things are trivial, however. A big nusance, but trivial. These little annoyances became so bothersome that I canceled my service at the end of my contract one year later (Oct. 2000). At that time, the serviceman was extremely rude and asked for the 7 bottles of water back, which I originally paid for. I told him he could have the bottles, but because the water was not used, he needed to replace the water in one gallon jugs to compensate me. He refused. He said the 5 gallon jugs were property of the company and I would be charged $10 per bottle. I told him to leave and that I was not paying.in addition, he denied ever telling me he would not ask for the bottles back. I spoke with two separate managers (I can only remember Tim in the Riverside office) who were both completely rude. I attempted to calmly and nicely get this situation resolved. I suggested several possibilities: 1) I will return the bottles as I use the water (They agreed only if the water was used in 30 days.) Who uses 35 gallons of water in 30 days? I would have to bath in it to use it in 30 days. 2) I suggested replacing the water with 1 gallon jugs of water. (Again they refused). 3) I suggested that they give me my money back. (Again they refused). He told me to pay for the bottles and that this matter was being turned over to a collections agency and that my credit would be ruined.
Furthermore, I just received this bill yesterday for the first time, which indicated an overdue balance. The note indicated that this would go to collections if not paid. I don't understand how this could be past due when the last invoice I recieved was in the amount of $. 90 (which I dispute, but didn't want the hassle so just paid), wihch was paid in full. The next invoice I recieved indicated an amount of $45 past due. I was not ever made aware of this. This is crazy.
The man was so rude to me. The feeling that a company has control to ruin one's credit if they feel like it, is very, very scary.
This is by far the most unethical company I have EVER dealt with. The money is trivial. Totally trivial. I have it to pay. But — I don't want to pay it. I am in business for myself and if I treated my customers the way that I have been treated by this company, I would have no customers. Furthermore, the water was not good. (Furthermore, when I ordered the water, the serviceman prommised me I was getting distilled water, which, as you can guess, it was not!)
