Hello there, and thank you in advance for taking the time to read this. I have never reported a business before, but have never had such reason to.
Back in March of this year, I went to a Verizon Wireless branch because the battery in my cell phone had died. After talking to the representative, they very cheerfully told me that I was eligible for a phone upgrade, and that it would be much cheaper than replacing my existing phone's battery. Come to find out just recently, that they had signed me up for yet ANOTHER, full term, 2-year contract. The representative did NOT give me this information, or I would have just gotten a new battery for my original phone, as I had planned to.
There is nothing on my receipt/paperwork (that I signed for the phone), stating that I was being obligated to sign up for another 2 year contract. The representative failed to mention this the entire time I was there. This is fairly important information in my mind, because I have had nothing but problems with Verizon Wireless and was NOT interested in being stuck with them for another 2 years.
I feel like I have been tricked into signing another contract with a business I was not interested in being part of anymore. The representative gave me a false sense of security and acted as if my new phone was part of my existing contract. I feel completely misled and fooled into signing another contract with them. Is this how they get customers? Is this the only way they can KEEP their customers? I feel other consumers should be made aware and warned of this kind of misleading sales pitch and purposeful misrepresentation.
This is JUST AS bad as being lied to by a company.
Thank you again for your time, I really hope something can be done to make it MANDATORY for all Verizon representatives to let the customer's know EXACTLY what they're getting into and ALL of the pertinent information involved in their purchase!
