In late August I got a few calls from a company called Freedom Resource, they stated that for $221.00 I would receive a Mastercard with a credit limit of $2,500.00 with 0% APR for the length of a year. I declined the first few calls and then the last time they called I decided to go for it, despite my mis-givings about this company. I should have gone by instinct. I thought this would be a good way for me to pay off my other credit cards with no interest.
At the time I agreed to do this, I was told that I would be receiving my "Benefit Package" before they withdrew my money from my account. On the 10th of September they TOOK MY MONEY, but I still had not received my package.
On September 11th, I made the 1st of 17 phone calls to this company. I was then told that they never send out the Benefit Package before they withdraw the money and that it would be 15 to 21 business days before it was actually sent out and possibly up to 45 business days until I received it. After, I received the package and signed the forms they would then send me the credit card. As time went on I called numerous times (which many times I was on hold for at least an hour) and was told that they had had overwhelming response and that they were behind. I told them that they had better send me a package from there office immediately or I would be calling the Better Buisness Bureau, they said I could call whoever I wanted to but that they could not send it from there office it had to come from there processing center and there was no way for them to contact the center.
Finally after 57 buisness days had passed I called them and told them I was recording the conversation and that I was contacting a lawyer. I then received the package within 4 days. I now have the package, but guess what. It turns out that the credit card is an unsecured credit card and I have to send money in order to coverage the charges on the card. What the hell did my $221.00 go to, I can get an unsecured credit card any time I wanted to for free. Not only that but the web site that is all over the "Benefit Package" isn't even accesible.
This company needs to be sued!!! How can we go about doing this? Any suggestions?
