I was so excited to use Golan's Moving and Storage for my move. According to the testimonials on their website, they were highly recommended. And with their exorbitant rate of $110/hour for a 3-man team, I figured that they must be good. Beware, they are not!
First, they claim that their workers are well-trained and uniformed professionals.instead, what arrived at my place were three men in dirty green sweatshirts who could not speak English and managed to get lost in the five blocks drive between my two apartments. They actually drove right by me as I was waving at them on the street. Even worse, when they showed up to my place and I told them that they had to use the rear entrance, they disappeared for 25 minutes before finally arriving at the back. Mind you, they don't compensate you for the time that they waste getting lost. You pay for all of their errors.
Additionally, two of the men were less than five feet tall. Now, I don't generally discriminate by height, but when it comes to movers, the bigger the guy the better.instead, these guys were incapable of lifting things that a normal sized guy could lift and it took them twice as long to complete the job because they had to double up to lift and push boxes on their dollies.
If that isn't bad enough, they do their darnedest to extend the time of your move. They take breaks be it a bathroom break or a rest break and regularly chitchat amongst themselves in foreign languages.in fact, the three chaps who did my move just laughed at me whenever I questioned them as to where the missing man was. Mind you, it should have been a quick move. I only had a bed (which was disassembled), a desk, a small couch, and about 10 boxes of clothing which were all packed, stacked, and ready to go. And my new place was less than mile away. But apparently, they have been taught to milk the clock and turned a 1-2 hour move into a 4 hour move.
Finally, in addition to not being able to speak English and communicate effectively, these chaps are conveniently incapable of reading their watches. That's right, they somehow manage to overestimate the length of the job by scribbling down earlier start times and later end times. And when you complain, they pretend as if the words that you are using are just not in their vocabulary.
So, to all of you people who are considering Golan's Moving and Storage, please opt for another company that gives you the quality of service that you are paying for. Or if you don't mind getting crappy service, simply opt to hire a cheaper company.
And don't be swayed by the promises on their website where they mention their firm commitment to customer satisfaction. Apparently they forgot about that when they addressed my concerns. Anyway, don't take my word. Be sure to Google their name Golan's Moving and Storage and see what other dissatisfied customers are saying.
So Good luck on your next move and say NO to Golan's Moving and Storage!
P.S. Golan's movers also damaged my furniture and scrapped the walls in both apartments.
