Please do not use this company. We contracted with MI Relocation to pack and load our furniture, price $7,000; we were told we would not have to do any packing or loading. We were quoted a price of $500 per month for storage and $12,500 to move our furniture from GA to Las Vegas. We were billed $10,600 for the packing and storage, which we paid at that time. Dennis was to arrive on June 21, with three helpers to pack and load. We had to be out by June 23. He arrived on June 22 with one helper.
My wife, who was recovering from a recent surgery was on doctor's orders not to do any packing, had to pack as well our neighbors and a person we hired. We were kept busy and at that time did not know that nothing was wrapped, protected or packed with any care. Lamps, pictures, clothing were dumped into boxes and then open containers of liquid were dumped in on top. When Dennis left, we found closets and rooms that still had furniture and items in them. Our furniture was taken to Michigan for storage. We had to rent a trailer and take these items to MI Location in Livonia, MI for storage.
On July 24, Dennis called and stated he had blown an engine and needed $9,000 to fix it. He stated if we would pay the $9,000 now, he would mark our account as paid in full. Even though this appeared to save money at the time, it cost us many thousands of dollars in the end.
We called MI Relocation in January and requested our furniture be delivered the end of February which we assured would happen. We kept calling and were told the end February that the furniture would be delivered the first week of March. We kept calling and when someone would return our call (not often) the delivery date was pushed back. We had to go out and buy enough furniture to live on.
Finally a truck arrived April 4. The furniture was broken, scratched, molded and ruined. The worst thing was they forgot about one third of the furniture. Again we had to go our and buy furniture as we had company arriving and needed beds and etc. That we had not receive.
The remaining furniture was delivered May 2, by a moving company from Las Vegas, NV. MI Relocation had sent the furniture to a company in Chicago where the Las Vegas company picked it up. The furniture was so bad and not packed or wrapped that the Las Vegas driver called his office and told them he did not think he should pick up the furniture because of its condition. Our cherry wood master bedroom furniture is gouged and broken (legs broke off) as well as other pieces of furniture. We have had some of these items for more then 40 years and were family heirlooms. We have not been able to find many pieces we had at our other home. We do not know where they are, but we do not have them. We have sent registered letters to MI Relocation but they were not signed for and were returned to us. We also have not been able to get any assistance from MI Relocation or from their insurance company. Again, please do not use this company
