So basically I was trying to get a divorce but had no time to do all the follow up and do all the documents so I used an online source called www.californiadivorcepapers.com. On their website it says that for $149.99 they will file the papers for me and help me through the entire process until the divorce is final which of course is FALSE INFORMATION.
I went through with it and first of all they mailed me my papers late, beyond the 3 day guarantee, and there was still A LOT of information to fill out and keep in mind my divorce is a very simple one, no children, no property, no assets.
Then after they were mailed out it took them a good three days to realize that the papers were mailed back to them and to let me know. If I didn't keep bugging them regarding status I would've known much later than that. So after mailing them out a second time an entire month went by and the divorce service told me nothing about status of my divorce.
Of course I must've emailed them maybe twice a week in that month that went by and they kept giving me very generic responses like 'We need to contact the court' or 'We will find out what's going on' but I NOT ONCE got a real response. So finally I sent them a very angry email letting them know how fed up I was about their service and that same HOUR they got back to me when other times I've emailed it took them a week or more to get back to me. And mind you, they don't answer their phones or return voice mail messages.
So at this point after they finally tell me that very same day what happened to my papers (court lost them, simple process of them looking up the delivery confirmation number then calling the court but I did that ALL MYSELF) I requested that they mail me a copy of the originals I sent them and emailed them twice about it and no response. Then finally I emailed them letting them know I want my money back because on their website they promise great customer service and help throughout the entire divorce process which is obviously false advertising.
I have never had a worse time with any other company or service than with CaliforniaDivorcePapers.com. I still have heard nothing even after I requested a refund and told them I was going to post a report on here and file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
If you want a divorce you're better off doing it yourself because in the end after paying $200 to these scum bags I still had to do 95% of the work. All the work they did (literally!) was put my name an address on all the forms, email them to me, then mailed them out for me. That's it! Had I known that that's what they were going to do I would've done it myself... I was under the impression that they went to the court to file it themselves.
