My experience with this company was horrible. I bought a 2 carat SI1 diamond and they sent me a diamond that was different than the diamond picture on their web site.
The diamond they sent me had more inclusions than the diamond picture online showed. They sent me a different diamond than what they pictured on their web site. The virtual loupe feature is a scam, they don't take a picture of every diamond they sell, they just have a group of pictures according to clarity that they display for every diamond they sell.
I had the diamond independantly appraised and every appraiser told me that it was an I clarity diamond. James Allen Schultz and Michele Sigler were no where to be found when I called their office and demanded an explanation.
Customer service just told me to send it back. No apology, no explanation, nothing.
I did some research on the company and I discovered that they are being sued by Blue Nile for copyright infringement - Blue Nile Inc v. James Allen Diamonds Inc et al - 2:2007cv01443.
I also discovered that the Ivouch testimonials are all fakes written by James Allen employees. The Ivouch review system is very easy to abuse with fake positive reviews.
James Allen used to be www.DirtCheapDiamonds.com, a more appropriate name in my opinion based on the inferior quality diamond they sent me.
Avoid this company at all costs. They are dishonest.
