Picked up my furniture from NJ to deliver to FL. The original moving quote cost was to be $600.00. However, after movers loaded everything into the truck the new charge was $1500.00. As a single mother of two, I could not afford to pay $900 extra, so I informed the movers of my position on this situation. He stated that I was getting a bargain due to his company's reputation.in addition, he stated that other companies would be a lot more expensive & might not deliver all my valuables in one piece. The mover agreed to give me $100 of the price & guaranteed me that I was not to pay a dime more & my furniture would be in great hands.
When my valuables arrived to FL on 4/9/08, four days late, the big trailer could not go into my property, therefore, the movers (these was a different two men crew) gave me three options. 1. Take my valuables back to a warehouse & request delivery later which will cost $300 extra.
2). They would unload everything & leave it on the streets so I could bring it inside my condo. (Mind you I paid for" GUARANTEE DOOR TO DOOR service, which was not honor.
3). Pay the movers an extra $150 so they could bring my furniture inside the house. I choose to pay them the $150 extra because it was impossible for me to do it & it was too late to get any help. When the movers started unloading the trailer I started noticing the damages: 1. Baby crib - wood completely destroyed. Part of the crib legs broken 2. Baby mattress - completely damaged 3. Wood desk - broken in half - damage completely 4. TV stand - scratched every where.
5. All my glasses/dishes/mugs that were secured in boxes all broken 6. Marble desk, which I paid $20.00 extra for movers to pack - broken in half 7. Glass top table - bottom part of table all crotched & missing parts 8. Missing items - 32"TV; pictures frames; mirror; parts of my desk.
When I tried to make the mover aware of the condition of my furniture, his response was "I don't care. That was not my job; I am only the delivery man. If you want we throw everything in the garbage". These workers had no ethics at all. They were very rude. On the mean time, I place a call to speak with Tom Nataro, who was the my relocating consultant, to my surprise, he was out for 3 days & the older man who answered the phone was very rude, replying that if I wanted my furniture all I had to do was pay the price and that was it.
In conclusion, my entire shipment is completely damaged. At this time, all of my valuable are not even worth the shipment cost I paid $1650.00.
I have placed a complaint with the company demanding that all of my valuables/furniture be replace and/or refund to original cost. Furthermore, I demanded a full refund of the shipping/delivery cost I paid in cash of $1650 for all the aggravation/stress/damages this company has put me through.
This people are thieves. They stole from me, destroyed my furniture & on top of their horrible service, I had to pay them $1650.
