Contract Renewal Without Consent

In 2006 I ordered Direct TV as part of a bundled package with Verizon my local telephone company. The deal was Verizon paid $6.00 toward my Direct TV bill every month.in July I called and requested a 3rd receiver to be used in my family room. After the techs ran the cable into the room and connected to the receiver the techs and I discovered the receiver was defective. Putting that aside I was able to use it.

In Sept. 2007 I grew weary of the satellite signal being easily disrupted by any thick cloud patterns in the area. When it rained or snowed you cannot receive anything at all. Going into football season I decided to change to a cable based system. I notified Direct TV via a telephone call that I was cancelling with them. They said they were sorry to see me leave as a customer but they would cancel the account. I received a postcard from them saying my account starts again on March 30th. I called them and spoke with a customer service rep and told him I didn't want to renew any Direct TV service. I followed that phone conversation with an email to them. After 24 hours I received an email saying that by ordering the 3rd receiver I voided the previous contract and that starting a new contract was implied when I ordered the 3rd receiver.
