I was invited to come to a free consultation with direct buy about 2 years ago, I was just starting to build my new house. I am a licensed builder and a member of the HBA "Home Builders Association". I thought at the time this would be a great way to save money on my projects and for my customers. I run a very ohnest buisness and do not like to get taken advantage of.
When we arrived there they crambed about 12 of us into this little room and begain there speal. It was almost like they had it written down what they were supposed to say, they just might have who knows! So anyway sitting there for about, oh I think it was about 45 minutes watching there dumb and persuisive videos, I stood up and thought I am not quite sure about this I am going to need a little time to think about it, because it was alot of money to pay for the membership. They immediatley jumped on me saying this is the best oppourtunity and I would save so much money, ya BS. They said that this one the only chance I had to do this so if I left they couldnt gaurentee me that I would have a chance to join again. So with that pressure put on me, I hate to say it but I signed on the doted line.
Come to find out most places take 10-12 weeks for delivery, and all these charges for taking it of the trruck and storing it until you pick it up I couldnt even believe it. I went and got a price on cabinets from a local lumber company and I told them I was a member of direct buy, well they where going to charge me I think $230.00 just to give me an estimate when usually it is free!
But they fail to inform you of all these charges when they are pressuring you into signing. Also when you call them, your call is most of the time put right into voicemail, so you leave a message and they never return your call. All I have to say is I want my money back and all the gas I used running here and there to see the product because all they have are stupid magazines... But if I cant get my money back maybe other people will read this and think twice about purchasing a membership and get sucked into the scam like I did.
