My name is carla and i put a flamenco chair in layaway
at jm porters 4/14/01.
Since then i have sent them a total of 700.00
due to financial difficulties.
I have been a customer of theirs for over 10
years and alway before i have made cash
purchases.
This time i chose layaway and got burned! I've called them on numerous occasions to resolve this matter
and they have been rude and mean over the phone.
They knew i had 3 deaths in my family and was out of town and completely forgot about the layaway.
When i did call to inquire about the price i was to pay and what others were quoted over the phone, they
said i was not identifying myself.
Know one that called inquiring about the same items
identified themselves and were quoted different
prices each time.
Why? Was it because there was a difference in the white voice and the black voice?
This store appears to be prejudice a bit they are from a different country and it did appear they would prefer do business with there kind or the kind other afro american.
I on my receipt it clearly says no refunds. I did offer for them to deduct 100.00 for the trouble of a 18 months period and a store credit for a cheaper item less than $2900 bal.
They refused this and rudely insisted 2900.00 in 30
days on all monies would be forfeited.
I never signed anthing that stated this not even on the layaway receipt!
I believe they are upset because another flamenco chair
was purchased for me a a surprise gift at a from a
relative out of town who saw this same $4500 dollar
chair for $2770 and purchased it for me and said i could
pay them after ive weathered the storm.
I then informed them that there store was overpriced and catered to certain nationalities. I still have not received my refund or store credit.
I have sense then felt very uncomfortable in their store because they tried to embarass me in front of other customers and yelled at me over the phone.
I again had to inform them that i've had termial illness in my family out of town a sudden death and a miscarriage and my fathers recent passing took a toll on me.
I told them that a flamenco chair was not on my mind during this time and i did apologize. They were still rude aminent about not returning my money or giving me a store credit.
I have sense then informed everyone i never to purchase anything from overpriced jm porter purchase the same itmes from purple pickett.com for an exceptionally lower price!
