A prerecorded message from DIANE of CARPET CARE calls us and tells you to press one to make an appointment. "Hi, this is Diane from Carpet Care, and I'd like to clean your carpet! We offer excellent packages to clean all areas of your house including your living, sleeping, and dining areas, and because you have listened to this message this far, I will even clean your hallways for free! Please press "1" to make an appointment!" If you complain or ask for their phone number they hang up on you. This is a nationwide scam and they have used several phone numbers. If you have caller ID then record the number and file a complaint with the FCC and the FTC. They call people on the do not call list and do not give a number to call back. This violates federal regulations. You can check out whocalled.Us for several people who got this message.
Also check out http://800notes.com/Phone. Aspx/1-310-405-6388/5 for a brave person who actually sent them to a vacant home and got the license plate number of their unmarked vehicle and the real number of the business. The phone number 310-405-6388 is owned by Teleport Communications Los Angeles. They are using a boiler room as you can hear the background noise of other voices. I have talked to several people and we think this is either a bait and switch scam for carpet cleaning, i.E., to get you to pay for more services or a scam to check out your home for a possible robbery. No honest business will hang up on you if you ask for their phone number or call numbers on the do not call list. They have used the above prerecorded message all over the USA. Beware. Be informed.
