Do not let this man do your wedding photography!
My husband and I got married in San Diego on July 19. I am from San Diego originally, so it was very special for me and very hard for me to plan a wedding while living on the opposite coast. My Parents decided to hire Ken Phares to do the photography, because he had done a great job with one of my older sisters when she got married 9 years previously.
Although he did a fantastic job on the actual DAY of the wedding, the main probably was actually GETTING the photos. My Parents paid him beforehand in full before the wedding, and we ordered two albums, two large size portraits, and were told we would get all the negatives and the rest of the pictures digitally so we could do whatever we wanted with them. I'm not sure how much my Father actually paid, but I know it was probably around $2,500.
The Wedding went great and was beautiful, but when the time came to receive the the photos and albums we were promised, we could not get a hold of Ken. I think my parents finally had to contact his brother, David (also a photographer) and practically had to threaten to sue in order to get the proofs and finally get the albums, and the portraits. We did not receive anything else we were promised or that we paid for.
My in-laws wanted to order pictures from the wedding and tried to contact Ken on many different occasions (even posing as "new" customers), but to no avail. To this day we still do not have the full services we were promised and my in laws have no wedding pictures. It makes me want to cry every time I think about it.
Please do not let this man do pictures for you! You will never see them!
(My Father probably has the most accurate information on this ordeal, but I know he would never file a report, so I took it upon myself to do so.)
