HCCUA signed me up for this group insurance policy.By the way it really is insurance, just not the greatest. I am medically unisurable and therefore have no benefits of any kind. No insurance company in the US will insure me-period. I have only a part-time job therefore no benefits.
My complaint with this company is part customer service and part their refund policy. I know the rules of the game so I know how to cancel. It is ambiguous about how much time you have to review the benefits. I had the same dates at one of the other complaints. I signed up by phone on and was assured that I had "30 days from the time I received the policy" (as long as I had not used it) to cancel. Apparently either this is either not explained correctly or it is done for purpose to keep at least one month's premium and $100 sign up fee!
For particular reasons I decided that this would not work for me. I phoned for fax number to cancel in Jan. It took a few minutes to obtain the number. (they may not be great on the phone-but trust me they document everything!) I was studying for finals so it was a week before I faxed the info. I forgot to sign the cancellation form I had made up and so faxed it 3 more times. I also mailed the same form to the cancellation address.
As of the min January I was still scheduled for cancellation on Jan 31. I send 3 more faxes and then called. I spoke with this gal who said I will cancel this myself. After that I received a very nasty, rude belligerent call from what is called a "save this contract" person. Whole department of fast talking-rude (this one was a man) who argued with me and then wondered why I was not happy. I called again to see what the deal was.
This time this gal said she was new and she could see that I had began the cancellation process over 2 weeks ago. After 10 minutes she assured me that all the paper work had been done. I asked when I would receive my refund and she stated it should be 2 weeks. It's 2 weeks tomorrow and I was told today my refund should be in my bank account-we shall see.
Side note: I spoke with 3 different employees and not one could tell me who they were regulated by (if they were regulated) or even what department would have that information. It appears they are based in Geogia by address and phone number and have billing etc locations elsewhere. A credit union may offer group insurance, however this is not the best policy and in some areas of the policy poorly explained.
