World Moving Services is a ripoff, don't use them

I found World Moving Services through getamover.com. I scheduled my move for the end of December in October hoping my early planning would prevent any major disasters. I did not realize they were a company that assists customers in finding other companies to move them because nobody explained that to me. I was told that I would be contacted about the date and time that my movers would pick up my belongings about 1 week before my move. When I had not heard anything 3 days before my scheduled pick-up, I contacted World Moving Services. Just my luck it happened to be Christmas Eve day, so they knew nothing and could not provide any information except to say, " We just don't have a carrier for you yet, but we have 3 days to find one". They know the customer is stuck because if they happen to find a mover by midnight on the last day they promised you they would pick up your stuff, you have to use them or you will not get your deposit back. But what happens in these cases is they wind up contracting with the companies nobody else wants to use because they are the only companies available at the last minute (especially for the price that World Wide Movers offers).

Long story short, after hours on the phone with them (of course add in the sitting on hold for at least 5 minutes while they search for your account) they found me a company called Peacock relocation systems in West Chicago, IL to move my stuff. They told me my stuff would be delivered in the same truck it was loaded on. When I called them after the New Year, I was informed that my stuff had not even left for New York yest and that my stuff had been sitting in a truck for 5 days. They totally lied to me. Then they transferred my stuff to another truck before sending it to me. Lie #2. My driver finally showed 5 days later with my belongings. However, he showed up alone to move all of my things, stating that because he was so off schedule with my delivery the assistant he had bailed to do another job. He then proceeded to unload my stuff and leave it unattended by the elevator. When I approached him about this, he simply said, "Mam, this is a safe building and nobody will take your stuff". When I demanded that someone be there to monitor my things, he woke his fiance up who travels with him and she helped him out. Not even a paid employee with moving knowledge.

Oh it gets better. He then brought 3 things up to my apartment that he thought were mine. When I told him the things did not belong to me, he said, " Well you might as well keep them because now I don't know who they belong to". One of the boxes was full of Christmas ornaments!!! He obviously was not checking the inventory.

Then, after checking my own inventory, I discovered that 3 of my boxes were missing. 1 had all of my family pics in it. He promptly called Linda, the owner of the company, and she said I would have to wait until the following day to know if they were in their warehouse.

I called on Monday morning to see if they had searched the warehouse. Nobody working in the office could ever even tell me if my boxes had even been transferred into this warehouse to begin with. I was told they sat on a truck for 5 days. Lie #3? When I told them that these boxes had irreplaceable items in them, all they said was, " You can file a claim form for the items". They said all of the customers that could possibly had them delivered to them were on vacation. All of them on vacation at the same time in January huh. Lie #4.

Long story short, a nice customer called in to say he had my boxes. They refused to ship the boxes to me from this location and made me wait an additional week so they could put them on one of their trucks and then ship them from their location. Does this really make sense? I know the boxes were opened at their business because they had to be re-taped and packed with paper. These boxes were too full to be packed with any additional paper when I packed them. Now my George Forman Grill is missing as well as one of my comforters and two pillows. Why they would want these items I do not know, but someone definitely took them?

Oh, did I forget to mention that Vivian, they lady who works in the office, has hung up on my 4 times throughout this process.

Of course, I have received no support from WMS in this matter. They claim to be calling Peacock but I never get the same story from the two companies, which to me means they aren't talking.

I could go on and on about WMS and Peacock relocation systems. These companies are soooo infuriating. I would support any class action lawsuit to shut down either of these companies, especially WMS. Do not use them!!!
