Nothing But Trouble

Myfamily and I decided to try dish network because of a flyer we received in the mail with a good offer. When we called and set it up, we were told that we would get 200 channels with 4 tv's and a three month trial with Starz, HBO, etc. The cable guy came to install the dish (12/01), only had 1 receiver for two televisions and set the satellite dish facing the roof. After a long conversation with the customer service department at Dish network, they finally told the installer to get another receiver. The second day we had an error screen. I called Dish network, and they told me that it would be a week before they would send someone out to fix the problem. I called my sister, because she has the same service and seems to know more than the people working at Dish network and found out that I had to go out and clean off the dish. It began to work but I was upset and wanted to cancel the service because the customer service people were extremely rude, argued about the weather, even though they were looking at a weather report (generally wrong) and I was actually there; in addition, they did not care that we had not even had the service for 24hrs. They told me that I would have to pay a $15.00 dollar a week fee for two years equaling a $360.00 cancellation fee.

We received our first bill and it was $20.00 more than the company had told us plus, we never got the three month trial of Starz, HBO, etc. After calling again, expressing my disappointment to someone who did not care and was not afraid to show it, transferred me to a "specialist" whom finally gave us a $20.00 discount and told me that the receivers had to be hooked up to a phone line. Well, the service was supposed to include installation so I told her it was their problem because the installer did not hook up either receiver. So, we had service for about two more weeks and it went out again. I called and they said it would be another week before they could come out to fix it. Mind you the satellite was facing the house and in a spot where the snow was going to knock it off. When the Dish Network representative got out to fix the problem, he said that the man that initially installed the dish did not do it properly and they would send him out to fix the problem. We have yet to hear from him. Finally, we got another bill. Dish Network did not refund us for the week we did not have service.

The individuals I spoke with at the company were rude and non-cooperative; just as anticipated due to my previous experience. This has been within a month and a half of service. This company needs to take responsibility for their shoty product and least of all, find a way to compensate people for the trouble. Dish Network should be the ones charged a fee for the time and energy their customers spend trying to fix all the problems brought on by this company. Anyone heard of pain and suffering? It was a big mistake switching companies.
