On or about November 21, I was contacted by the above company to get my timeshare rented. Allen, I believe was the sales persons name, is a high pressure salesperson. I asked him to send me the companys information and I would make a decision as to whether or not to utilize the companys services. That was not good enough for Allen. He said that he wanted to take my timeshare to the showroom so that he could start bringing me offers, therefore he needed payment immediately.
Well, it turns out; based on the contract they want me to sign, that they will not even send an offer for my timeshare until I send a signed contract to them. This is one item that was deceptive. Allen speaks what I call double speak. He says things that congers up a different picture in a persons mind than what reality is. An example of this is he talked about a showroom. Well, I have come to the conclusion that his version of a showroom is an internet site. If he had just sent me the contract without pressuring me to give him my credit card number, all this could have been avoided.
Allen made it sound like the company has numerous ways of marketing the timeshares that are available. Their contract reads: We advertise strictly through our website and outside promotions that the company offers. I have yet to see any outside promotions. I believe the company does not offer any outside promotions or they would indicate such on their contract. This is another deception.
A vacation firm would normally be open on the weekends when people are most involved in scheduling time away from home. I tried to contact them over the weekend before I received a copy of the contract to no avail. Now that I have a copy of the contract, I see they are not open on the weekends. Their contract states: Our office hours are Monday-Friday 10AM to 5PM EST. That makes them totally unavailable even in the evenings to anyone living west of the Eastern Time zone. That in my mind is not a customer friendly business for scheduling vacations. This information was not told to me when Allen was putting the high pressure on me to give him my credit card number. I believe this is deceptive in not informing a customer of this type of important information.
I have not signed, nor has my co-owner signed any contract with the above named company. The above named company is a good example of duplicity and trickery to the highest degree.
On Saturday, December 1, I received a copy of the contract. I tried to contact the company via telephone and e-mail but without response. On Monday, December 3, Allen called me back. I told him that I did not want the services of the above company and to please refund my money. He started the high pressure business again and I told him I did not want any hassle, just a refund. He turned me over to a guy named Mike. Mike told me that he was not going to refund my money and if I would just sign the contract that he had several offers already for my property. I told him that if he sent me the offers and I rented the timeshare that I would let him have the $894.00 as a commission for renting the property. He told me that would be a felony if he did that. I know that it is not a felony, and I know he did not have any offers. I went into the website and there is another timeshare similar to mine that has been there for an extended amount of time that is over $600 less that what they said I wanted for my property. I told him that I would not sign the contract and I would dispute the charge on the credit card. He told me that would be a felony (Mike is felony happy) and that I had better not. He wanted me to go into a great bit of detail as to what I disliked about the contract. I was out of the office at the time and did not have the information available to me.
