Horizon Telecom has been fraudulently billed me through Embarq as a thrid party for long distance serivce. They alternated billing through OAN Serivces, Inc. They billed smaller amounts that would not set of bells and whistles if you just glanced at your billing every month around $23.00 - $30.00.
When I requested an Embarq representative to contact them and inquire as to who ordered this service, they sent me a fabricated form that I did not fill out. They could not produce third party confirmation of my order or a signature from me. The Horizon Telecom representative claimed that they had an originating IP address and that was all the confirmation they required.
I intend to contact the Indiana Attorney General's office regarding this company. I also plan to hold Embarq responsible for billing me for long distance services I never ordered. You would think that someone at Embarq would have questioned this charge since Embarq provides me with unlimited long distance on 2 separate phone lines and nationwide cell phone coverage. What would I need another long distance provider for???
The Embarq representative suggested putting a freeze on my account that would not allow third party billing. I'm curious as to why they would bill their customers for a competitor. A question I intend to ask a supervisor tomorrow. ;-)
Protect yourself... Put blocks and freezes on your Embarq accounts. You must ask for these specifically.
