I joined AHS 3/5/07
My first call to them was about my hot water heater. They sent a company out "Rescue Router" who told me that the problem was the water regulator that controls my water presser, which AMS did not cover (though in the promises made to me verbally by the AMS salesman it listed what he said was all exclusions, and that one was not mentioned.
To fix things and replace the hot water heater (with the cheapest smallest model) cost me $2500. Others have told me the charge wa over double what it should have been. Even though AHS refused to pay - I still had to pay AHS for the call.
Then my air conditioner stopped. AHS sent out a repairman from Georgia's Best Price Heating and Air on 8/10/07. I paid my fee to AHS and they replaced good Lennox thermostat with a no-name cheap generic, even though I told them I was sure it was not the thermostat that was broke. Then the guy fooled around some more and said the compressor needed replacing and a switch on my furnace. Said he would come by the next day. Seven days later after begging and begging (I am disabled with heart condition and temps were over 100, and absolutely no help from AHS). A supervisor from Georgia's Best came out and said all that was wrong was the coil needed cleaning (which AHS would not cover, of course, so I paid full price).
A washer needed replaced on my tub because it was dripping ASH sent another plumber from Rescue Router out and now every time I turn on the water, it makes a loud screeching sound. Also he spent the whole time there trying to convince me I need professional mold protection.
Next and last, on the first cool day, I tried to turn on my heater, and it did not come on. AHS sent out a repair person from Rite-Temp Heating and Air on 10/11/07. They fixed the problem quickly, which was that the guy from Georgia's Best Heating and Air did not bother to hook up the cheap thermostat he installed to the heater, but then the repairman went to the basement and checked the furnace and said the it had a bad heat radiant and a bad heat exchanger, was leaking carbon monoxide and cut of the gas and electricity to it and said a replacement for my small furnace would cost $2500, which they doubt AHS would cover. ASH called and said of course they would not cover it because it was badly maintained.
I offered to show them the invoices from the annual maintenance I had performed. But they said it does not matter, they go by what their repairman says, and he said it had not been maintained. They said they would send out another repairman of their choice, but if he agreed with the first guy, I would have to pay.instead I called a reputable repairman (Metro Heating and Air) on my own, who told me over the phone a replacement with a new Lennox would be around $1600 or $1700, who when he came out and said there was nothing at all wrong with my furnace, nothing at all, it was in good working condition.
The dishonest repairman from AHS seeing that I was an older disabled woman who was unable to check on their work, figured I would just break down and pay the $2500 they would charge for me to have heat, like the repairman from AHSs plumber, had gotten an exorbitant amount of money from me so I could have hot water. I can only be thankful that the repairman I called on my own was honest, but still I had to pay for a service call to have the gas to my heater cut back own.
