Unlawfully Drafted my checking account

After moving to a new home, I tried to continue using Dish but found that it would be too costly to put additional receivers in. They wanted to charge me an aditional $5 for each reciever not plugged into a land (phone) line. Since I only use cellular phones... It would be a charge I did not feel fair. So with all the additional fees, I decided to cancel the service.

I was told by Dish that they would send boxes for me to return my receivers, and to wait on them to arrive because they would have special labels on them. The boxes never arrived. On 10/22/07 I was alerted by my bank that Dish was trying to take over $500 out of my account. I called Dish and spoke with James. I explained to him that I had discontinued the Dish service and Dish told me to wait for boxes to send the equipment back but that no boxes had arrived. I asked what address had they been sent to. He told me my old address. I told him this was a mistake, that I had requested them be sent to my new address. So he took down the new address and told me that they would arrive in a few days. HE ASSURED ME MY CHECKING ACCOUNT WOULD NOT BE CHARGED.

On 10/23/07 My bank alerted me that over $500 was taken out of my account. THIS IS ROBBERY!!! I called Dish at 10:40 am and spoke with Dana, who had a bad foreign accent and was hard to speak with. She told me she could not help me. I asked for a supervisor. She told me the supervisor could not help me. I insisted on speaking to someone. She then told me she was going to transfer me but instead I was disconnected.

I called back and spoke to Dave who also had a bad foreign accent. It is aggravating talking to people you can't understand. Dave said the same thing and after sitting on hold for over 30 minutes... Transferred me to Craig, who told me he would transfer me to Joe Ortega. Joe told me he could not give me my money back immediately but would expedite the refund and emailed me some shipping labels.

Meanwhile, I am forced to be without any money for basic food and other living necessities till Dish receives their equipment back which I would have gladly done if they had sent the return boxes to me correctly to begin with. Again, I did everything I was instructed to do... Yet my family suffered. I ask you... How can I ever forget this horrible experience.

-I was a good customer
-I paid on time
-I waited as per instructed for the return boxes
-I alerted Dish as to the mistake, and was assured it would be taken care of without my checking account being charged
-Dish took money from me... I have no money for food, bills, kids...
-I was told no one could put the money back immediately.

This was not my error... Yet my family and I suffered dearly for it.
