Get Smart Visa professes to help you re-establish your credit. After over a year of membership with them they cancelled my card. I have never been delinquent on any of their bills.
When I called, they told me that they do random pulls of accounts and will cancel them for delinquencies. I did have a bankruptcy in but this was discharged before I got the Get Smart Visa.
I asked if they saw my credit report before giving me the card originally. I was told "of course". I told them that no changes have been made since then... There have been no delinquencies with anyone, so why was my card cancelled?
They told me that they reserve the right to cancel anyone's card at anytime. I said that's really nice... People try to build back up their credit and you cancel their card for no good reason. Plus that's going to look really nice on my credit report now... Thanks a lot.
They would not give me any further "specific" info... Just telling me to call Equifax. Ironically I had just checked my credit report online with TransUnion the night before to check for any discrepanicies. It was fine.
Don't get any credit through Providian (aka Get Smart Visa)... That is unless you want to get screwed a year later!
