Movers Holding Family's Goods Hostage!

We are Socal natives that moved to Oregon for 2 1/2 years. Upon our return we booked a moving company out of N. Hollywood to handle our move. I found them online as I was handling the move alone because my husband had to move back to OC first to begin a job. I was given a quote based upon the size of my house for $3657.00, and hired a company called Arrowflight Van Lines.in short, the mover arrived and the experience was awful.

He loaded all of my family's belongings and at 2:30 A.M. When finishing tried to charge me a total of almost $9000.00. He told me I had more stuff then they
anticipated. But the contract clearly states that they can only charge me the estimated amount 10% or that we have to negotiate a new estimate PRIOR TO LOADING OR BEGINNING THE JOB. I only paid the 50% of the estimate I agreed to pay plus some bogus packing charges just to get the guy out of my house because he was very angry that I was disputing the charges.

Since then, when I tried to set up for delivery at the end of August, the company dismissed all of my complaints regarding the move and is still trying to collect this exorbitant amount of money that I don't have and don't even owe. They will not deliver our items and are essentially holding our property hostage.
I have 7 children that are all having to sleep on the
floor every day. They don't have their shoes or coats or any of their clothes (other than what we packed for the trip). I am incurring all kinds of unnecessary costs buying stuff that I already own, just to get by while this mess gets figured out.

This company lowballed the estimate to get the job and then tried to stick it to us in the end. But we need our belongings and don't know how to get it. Please help us. Our things are not fancy, but it is all we have. My kids want their toys and clothes and beds and my husband and I don't want to lose irreplacable things like our wedding photos or home videos either!

The guy I have been talking to at the moving company told me yesterday that the mover that handled my move was fired for making this mistake and not re-negotiating prior to loading my things. I tried to tell him that it is not my fault their guy was incompetent and they cannot put those costs off onto me, but he is not willing to honor our original agreement.
