About eight years ago, my long distance carrier was switched to MCI, without my knowledge or consent.
To make the matter worse, when they switched me, they got my city wrong. I lived in Ann Arbor. They put my location as "Ann Harbor." There is no such city, by the way. So every call I made within Ann Arbor got charged at a long-distance rate. Pizza from down the street? $3.60. Stuff like that.
My bill came to over $400. For local calls.
I've called, I've faxed, I've emailed. I've even sent them a map of Michigan, asking them to locate Ann Harbor. I've filed complaints, I've refused to pay. I've gotten nowhere. I've gotten no response, I've gotten hung up on. When I asked for their corporate office phone number, they refused to give it to me. They said that they didn't have a phone number. The phone company doesn't have a number? They put me in collections. I have never paid, but it's never shown up on my credit report. I hope it never does.
