On September 3 I met with a wedding photographer Ronda and we went over her work. My parents gave her a check of $250.00. She then said that she would later send me the contract. I received the contract, but I sent it back without signing it to have her change the location and she made some mistakes in the contract that I wanted her to change before I signed it. I received no response for 2 weeks.
So after sending emails and leaving her voice messages on her voicemail for two weeks; I still did not get a response back. So I finally sent an email that said I no longer wanted her services if this was the way she treats her customers. Then magically after emailing her of no longer wanting her service she finally responded back to me and said that her email was down and that she has been busy.
When I received the email from her I responded back and said that I wanted my deposit back. I told her that she told me from the very beginning to email her, because this was the best way to get ahold of her. I told her that even if her email was down she could of listened to her answering machine and returned my call. She emailed me back and said that she would refund half of my deposit and asked for my information to send the check too. And before I could respond she emailed me back and said she decided that she wasn't going to return my money. I sent an email back asking why not, because I never signed a contract. Of course no response from her.
I never signed a contract and now I have a email saying she will refund the money. But now she won't. I just want half ($125) of my deposit back. I think this is VERY reasonable. I decided not to use her, because of the lack of communication. I also want to state that in her contract it states that UPON SIGNATURE, your deposit is nonrefundable. I NEVER signed anything. And on top of that when my parents handed her the check she said that it wouldn't be cashed until the contract was signed. She NEVER said anything about it being non-refundable.
Now when you go to their website it states that deposits are non-returnable no matter what. Well it NEVER said that until I asked for my money back. (I also wanted to add that when I went to the website right after all of this to find the owners number that Ronda no longer works for the company.) I have a contract that is signed by Ronda and not by me saying that after I sign the contract (which I never did) my deposit is no longer refundable. I called and left a message with the owner to inform her of what was going on and of course I never received a call back.
I was just trying to be fair by agreeing to half of my money back, because yes they might of missed out on some people needing the date I wanted. But I had a friend call a month before the date that I wanted to see if they were available and they informed her that they were already booked. So they got my deposit and they got a full amount from someone else that already booked them. They weren't out any money!
To end this I just want to point out that Ronda told me that I decided not to go with her, because I was cheap! Well I ended up going with a photographer that I paid $3700.00 for vs. As one Heart's $1200.00. So I don't think I'm cheap! I just wanted someone who was professional and who I could count on. This was for my wedding and when she was not responding to my calls or emails this made me think that she's not reliable. And for a wedding you need to be reliable.
