Last wk I was in New Orleans, at the Airport, when I realized my cell phone had slipped out of my purse. My daughter was home alone, waiting to hear from me, so I needed to call her before I went to the hotel.
The only pay phones in the airport were controlled by Legacy, and the only signs on them were the ones saying a local call is $1.00. Not having any change, I decided to place my calls using my debit card, which should be charged the same as cash.
There were no instructions on the phone re how to use other Operator Service Providers, and I had actually forgotten about even using that option, since I normally only use my cell.
Imagine my shock when I got back home & looked at my bank statement. I had made 3 short calls. 1 was to leave a msg on my daughter's cell phone ($11.24 charged), another to leave a msg on my home phone ($11.24 charged), & the other was to let my coworker at the hotel know I would be on the next shuttle there ($13.54 charge).
After I got my statement, I started checking up on this co, and all I have found are complaints. There should be some way to stop this sort of ripoff from happening! If anyone is doing any sort of lawsuit against them, I'll be happy to join. It's not that I can't pay the charges, but no co should be allowed to do what they are doing!
