I called to ordered a business line from vonage on may 1. I called them back the following day to cancel because the business was delayed approximately six months. The customer care representative told me he would cancel the order but he could not stop the shipping process even though the modem hadn't been shipped yet. He then told me to refuse the modem when it arrived and when they received it back my account would be credited.

I shipped the modem back expecting to receive the refund on my credit card only to find out vonage was not only charging me for the time of service but charging three times the amount originally agreed upon. I phoned them in early july when i realized they were still actively making erroneous charges on my credit card. They claimed the account was never canceled.

The customer care representative told me everything would be taken care of but due to the large amount needed to be credited the credit would be issued within 24 hours from different department.

The next day i received an email rejecting my claim. I've continued to debate my case but the only response i get is rejection in an email

When i told them iwas going to cancel the credit card they were originally given, they finally officially canceled the account on july 9th which happened to be after the allotted time frame for cancellation in their bogus contract.

To this day i have never received any service, it was never turned on, they confirmed they had received the modem i refused but still insist on keeping my $481.03. They claim i never cancel the account and that my phone call was simply to inquire about the shipment. I asked them why would i inquire about a shipment one day after the order was placed? Better yet why would i return the modem upon receipt if i wanted it so bad? They have yet to answer these questions.

By the way they don't expect a verbal answer, once you get through the robots it's all emails from there.

Readers please let me know if one of you know how to stop this company from there deceitful, unethical business practices. To the rest of you consumers out there, stay away from vonage they are thieves!!!
