Our company actually tried Freightquote twice. When we were a small compnay, we had very few truck shipments, and many trucking companies were unwilling to give us good discounts. Freightquote is an online freight broker, contracting with many trucking companies at reduced rates, for high volume. They are good for the most part, until you have a problem, then you find the support is lacking. Our first probem was when a shipment had been damaged in transit, a forklift had punctured the side of a package, damaging the product inside. We called Freightquote, they advised us to put in a claim with the trucker, which we did. The claim was denied, because the consignee signed for the shipment.in business, it is quite common for the package to be delivered without a thorough inspection, as you have 7 days to make a claim. If everyone inspected every package as it were being inspected, it would hold up the delivery of everything else in the truck. I advised that trucking company that IF we ever used them again, we would include on the Bill of Lading that all deliveries are subject to complete inspection. Freightquote supplied zero support through this process, and we didn't use them for several years.
After about 3 years, our company had grown to a point that we were making lots of daily truck shipments. Freightquote contacted us again, we some fantastic freight rates, so we gave them another try. The problem arises that since they are a broker and get low rates, the truckers that they contract with are constantly checking for wyas to charge more. We were subject to several "rerates", where the trucker challenges the freight class that is claimed on the bill of lading. We know our product, and we know the freight classes. We supplied written proof to back our claimes, even re-packaged a similar order with an identical amount of the exact same product. We told Freightquote that we absolutly refused to pay, they kept calling for payment, and asking for more business. We told them to stop calling, we will never use them again, because after all the headaches and back-charges, it wasn't worth the amount we had saved with their lower rates.
I have to say that Freightquote may be a very good service for the occasional shipper, provided that their are no problems or discrepancies with the shipment, which is totally out of their control. When there is a problem, there is no support whatsoever.
