In June I was fired by the JB hunt management for the Pittsburg, Paint and Glass acct. Or PPG for various alleged but never proven incidents & accidents. The DAC report put out said I was an "unsafe driver", "animal strike" and a" backing accident ". Sounds really bad I know, however the terminology one uses when speaking to "corporate safety" must not reflect the slightest fault on the drivers part. Ie. "animal strike"...
Here's what happened there... A deer on an interstate I-70, mm40 in PA. New fallen snow @ 5am eating the salt on the road. Light traffic 55mph, however everyone was moving @ approx. 40 mph. There was no where to go, could not stop. Thing is an "animal strike" could be an elephant at a zoo. No details are given and I was charged w / an animal strike. The "backing accident" was what I was eventually fired for... This consisted of broken trailer door hinges on onpreload trailer I was dispatched on in North Chicago IL. I pulled the loaded trailer out for inspection and to close the doors, having to use a crowbar the left each door in order to shut the doors. When the shipper of this Hazmat preloaded trailer had no BOL for the load I backed the preloaded trailer back into the dock. The hinges gave way on one side and the trailer would not fit into the dock. I moved away from the dock and found that the hinges were broken completely on one side and the other doors hinges 2 or 3 were broken but still attached. I phoned weekend dispatch then road crew to explain.
I wasn't until much later or maybe the next day I called Corporate safety to report once again, on weekend dispatch suggestion. Thing is once someone at any job doesn't like you for whatever reason, its difficult to get another fleet manager or transfer to another acct. Just to get away from the BS. Steve can't help he's young and he certainly doesn't mind speaking his mind and traditions. There were a number of other bogus things the entire management team did to team up on me and made an otherwise good job all but impossible. Since my being fired most all the management got promotions some were relocated to other states to continue they're careers at JB Hunt.
I tried to contact all departments of JB Hunt to get someone to hear of the travesty brought on by JB Hunt/PPG account management. I got the same eerie "generic computer generated talk" saying from all that there was nothing I could do. And that much is true enough. I sent the president a email and there wasn't even a response from him. Yeah they call me unsafe, however I have no DOT strikes against me. My record is clean.
USIS/DAC is a big bunch of crap because there is no investigations to prove what any company says about a CDL/Hazmat company driver. Someone needs to shake-up the whole trucking industry and personal opinions have no place in the work place, especially if management can't conceive of my work place, and my work record impeccable. I have approx. 5 years OTR, Thank You
