Fraudulently Violates its own policy by not requiring signatures and ignoring insurance

Our company shipped expensive ($50k) merchandise to a customer and paid additional amounts for declared value coverage (similar to insurance). The customer was not at its place of business when UPS delivered, so UPS says it left the package there. Upon returning, the customer called both us and UPS to inquire about the package, and was told it had been delivered. Since the customer never received or signed for the package, UPS said that a claim needed to be filed, and that it should be a fairly straightforward process.

During the claim filing process, UPS representatives told us that their internal policy requires the UPS driver to obtain a signature, but now we are being told that no such policy exists.in addition, UPS claims that we should have required UPS to obtain such a signature, and our failure to do so means we are at fault.

This is ludicrous.

Our company and its affiliates, who collectively spend about $250k per year with UPS, will now seek to change delivery services.in addition, I will personally campaign tirelessly to inform my fellow business managers to avoid UPS.

Lastly, we will gladly consider joining any class action or other lawsuit to bring to light the unconscionable actions of UPS.
