Yellow Pages and the Yellow pages logo is public domain, there are 2300 scumbag companies operating as such in America. They send out a number verification card to new businesses with the fine print that sending it back places an order for a deluxe listing, $299.
Then you get a bill for that amount.
Don't pay them, call and cancel. People are paying them and getting nothing in return. You are under no obligation to pay for something you're mislead into ordering and in the US if you're tricked into a contract you don't have to fulfill it.
Sometimes they send a second notice or threaten to report you to a collection agency, they won't and can't do this - they won't even give you their actual company name or any other information about them, including a way to contact their legal department. They thought they'd scare me by saying I should have my lawyer contact theirs, I said that was a good idea and they refused to give me a name or a phone number for a legal dept.)
They're not going to report you to anyone, don't give in. The truth is all you have to do is call and cancel. I just harassed them because I wanted to ruin their day.
This ripoff was mentioned already, but there was no known phone number, I just wanted to post it, it's 888-311-1020. Don't be polite when you call.
