My husband was the owner of this card. I must have been just an authorized user. He passed away suddently in Sept. I paid off his account in full in Oct altho, from my understanding, I may not have had to do that.
Without notifying me, Chase closed this account. I called them as soon as I learned of this (by using it). The woman was very short and was basically of no help to me when I tried to find out why they closed it without notifying me. She was not the least sympathetic with my plight. My husband handled all the finances... Word of warning to couples in the same situation! Future statements showed that I had a -$26.43 balance. I contacted them on 2 different occasions and was told a refund would be sent to me.
Six months, later, no refund. I contacted them again today. This time I was told that this amount was the amount of his 'rewards rebate' and that they become forfeited once the account is closed. Again, they never notified me!!!
I will NEVER EVER use or apply for a Chase credit card and I will tell all of my friends of my experience! None of the other companies that we had credit with gave me a problem and actually wanted me to apply again for my own, make changes so that I don't lose the card, etc. I have learned a lot these past few months! I will forever be bitter towards Chase!!
