A little over a week ago I made the mistake of trying to help out a friend with her Virgin Mobile monthly service fees by paying for them with my debit card. Big Mistake! Unknown to me at the time, she had a 300 minute plan that cost $44.99 or something very close to that. But in my ignorance I sent a payment of $25.00 thinking she paid by the minute, and was told that wouldn't work because you have to pay the monthly rate. So I then sent another $20.00 payment to them thinking it would finish paying for her service plan and she'd have her phone back. WRONG!
Since her minutes were used before the renewal date they immediately started taking money out for the 25 cents a minute they charge for going over your plan, which ate up quite a bit of what I had just deposited. So, I deposited another $10.00 to fill the deficit left for the minute charges. After they finally explain to her she can't just get the monthly rate until her renewal date she decides to just switch plans so she wouldn't be paying by the minute. SO...
I deposited another sum to cover the more expensive plan she switched to thinking that would be the end of it. WRONG AGAIN! After making 4 different payments that totalled $90.00 plus change, they then proceeded to also debit the my card for another full month's service for $67.08, causing my debit card account to be overdrawn. She has spoken with them on many occassions, and I have emailed over and over asking for the overpayments to be credited back to the account, and so far I've gotten a whole sum of $31.99 returned. They keep saying they've sent the refunds but they certainly never made it my account!
All I get in answer from them are very brief form letters, and not once have they given how much they're refunding or when to expect it. I suppose I should count myself lucky that I got even that much back after reading some of the other complaints about Virgin Mobile! They're absolutely, total incompidents working for organized rip off artists! Aren't there any kind of federal laws to protect comsumers against companies like this?
If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it!
