Highway Robbery! Hidden Cost, Different weight slips, Belligerent Worker Ripoff

I arranged my move with Northwest Van lines out of San Antonio TX and worked with Shay Barone during the time between when I booked my move and the day of the actual move which was from December 11-18. My estimate (after going through all the items in great detail as to types of wood and materials arrived at $1980.00 for 4000 lbs.

On the day of the move a plain white moving truck shows up and 3 workers get out (they were supposed to arrive between 9-10 am and never showed up until 6 pm and i called Shay numerous times but never reached him although before he was reachable instantly)
When they arrived they were to move all the boxes I had packed and then wrap the larger furniture in pads and move it to the truck which was parked in my driveway literally 10 ft from the house.

I was charged $100 for a 75 feet walk because they had to walk in my backyard to carry a christmas tree and decorations from the shed which might have been 50 ft from the street. This was a subdivision in TX the neighbors back door was probably 75ft from my driveway. That was not the only misc. Charge.

They proceeded to tell me that they would not take my 3 couches, tv, beds, 2 dressers, and various other items without appropriate packing (which i thought was the padding that shay had told me they would do on arrival as part of the cost) well appropriate packing is with saran wrap that they charge 2.75 per foot for. So you can imagine the cost that arose from that. The additional packing costs (although I had packed every item in my house) ended up being 908 dollars. I had to pay this plus 554.00 which was half of my "estimate" to get them to move my stuff from TX to VA where I was moving.

After arriving in VA. I repeatedly tried to contact Northwest Van Lines with zero luck. I started contacting Shay with Northwest on January 15 to have my items delivered. After 2 months of this I gave up hope that I would ever see my stuff again. Finally my mom (who paid for the move with her card) called me and said that the 1462.00 had finally posted to her account and the name was Dynamic Movers. So I searched online and found the company. Called them and they informed me that they had my stuff and had been trying to contact me. I had never heard from them nor had I received any form of mailing, message, etc.

They had my address they could have mailed me and I would have receieved if even if they had sent it to the old TX address. Dynamic also informed me that I was going to have to pay for storage for the previous 2 months since I had not called to have my items delivered.

We arranged a time; that time fell through and so we set up another, the day before the move they tried to get me to reschedule again and I said NO I set up this date 2 weeks ago and I am not changing it again, they finally agreed but not at the original time (9-10 am) instead they set for 4-6 pm and said they would call me an hour before they were leaving their warehouse. At 530pm I called to see what was going on.

Michael (dynamic mover guy) then said that he had called me and I had not answered (again) he said that every time like he had called and I was ignoring him. He said that his movers had just loaded things up and verified the address. I said actually now that the time is so late I need you to meet me at a different location because the weigh station that I originally gave you is now closed. He became enraged and started screaming at me in what I am assuming is arabic (he is israeli) only reason I think it was arabic is because my family is Lebanese and I recognized some of the words. He was upset because he did not know the address he had was a weigh station and said he had weight slips. I told him i needed to verify the weight and he said that i was rude and calling him a liar, i merely was trying to ensure that i wasn't being screwed which i ultimately was.

On the day of delivery April 14 they tell me that I must pay them in cash or money order only! So I rush to the bank to get a money order before it closes. Later to have to fight with them to take a bank money order b/c they seemed to believe a bank money order can be cancelled... If that is the case I have never known of anyone who has actually done it.

Magically the weight of the truck and my items was actually 1700lbs more than the weight slips he had that were to be from my load... How does a load GAIN almost a ton? So basically i gave him more $ b/c i was trying to save myself money.

As I started unpacking my items a lot and i mean A LOT of it was broken. Vases and dishes and items that i have had for many years and have survived moves from PA, FL, TX and 2 different locations in TX. Totaling around 2000.00 of broken items.

There is soooo much more but as I scroll back up i realize how this has become a frustrated rant. Long LONG story short... Don't use this company... And don't use anyone who won't work with you as you deem fit after all you are the customer and in service the customer is always first and right!

I am also filing with the Attorney General's office so that is an option. The consumer protection department is for stuff like this. If enough of us file maybe this company will be out of business and not STEAL from anyone else.
