We booked our move through Evergreen Van Lines. Our move was booked for 2-23-09 and we were to receive a call the night before with a time that someone would be there. On the night of 2-22-09 we were frantically calling any number we could find to figure out what was going on. It was not until 2-23-09 that we were able to contact someone at Evergreen Van Lines and we were told that the movers would not be there until 2-24-09. The movers from USA Relocation and Transfer called us in the morning of 2-24-09 for directions to our house. We thought they should know where they are going. The movers finally showed up with no moving supplies. We had paid $99 to Evergreen for packing materials. We had also paid to have 3 large pictures and a TV packed, all of which did not happen.

After about 5 hours of filling the truck they were close to done, we had packed everything ourselves. The moving guys were slow and lazy and complaining and smoking with the doors open to our house. My husband had to help move furniture from the loft upstairs because one guy was so big he could not fit and we paid for these movers? We had planned to have the movers go by a furniture store to pick up furniture that we had ordered. It was not necessary that we be there, but since they had no knowledge of where they were to go or how to get there we supervised this trip which we paid extra for as well. Also they tried to charge us twice for this extra stop.

We wanted extra insurance on top of the $0.60/lb that is required by law. We were told by Evergreen that we could do this at pickup. Therefore when USA Relocation got there we paid $250.00 extra for what we were told was insurance. It was useless and not enough.

Once we had left we were told by the movers that they expected to be there the next day. We were told that they would call when they got the truck weighed, since they did not know where a weigh station was. We called the next morning to figure out about the weight, etc. We found out then that the truck had broken down. This delayed our move by 4 days, all the while no one ever called us to inform us of the situation. Then finally on 2-28-09 when we called the movers to find out where they were they needed directions to our house. They had our address and all of the information and we should not have to tell them how to get from there to here, that is what we paid them for.

When we got the truck weight slips, the truck number on the forms did not match (before weight and after weight). He called his boss and he took off the extra weight. At that point we had been waiting for our belongings for 4 days and were just wanting to get on with it. The reality of the matter was that they were probably scamming us and most of the customers who do not pay attention to those details or like us just want their belongings in the end. Then it came down to settling the balance of our bill. They tried to charge us again for the extra stop.

It took them most of the day to unload of stuff. Meanwhile they were smoking and being lazy and slow just like before. They broke our water cooler, office chair, queen mattress, and our brand new foot board for our bed was all scratched up.
