I too have been a intended victim of DIRECT TV's manipulative, lying, forceful, bait and switch tactics. They deliberately hide contractural information from unknowing and unsuspecting individuals, they offer products that don't ever materialize and they advertise directly that there are no start up costs or equipment to buy. And, if you try to cancell because you did not know that they entered you into a yearly contract, they demand $125.00 early termination fee which they say is to pay for the cost of the dish they installed.
What? Didn't you say no equipment to buy? Try to get rid of the dish and they will not take it, they tell you, YOU OWN IT now. But wait, I didn't want your dish. Too bad, it's yours and we will extort the $125.00 out of you for it, so they think.
I received their services through a bundle offered by my phone company and never was told that I would be entering into a yearly contract with them. If you get their receiver, even for a day, and you find out this info, if you do not activate it, they charge you $150.00 penalty. GREED
Any lawyers out there willing to take them on in a class action law suit? There are lots of us waiting for justice.
