If you have been called by Publishers Business Services, and have been sucked in by their sales calls, but have been too afraid to say anything for whatever reason... I understand. Something needs to be done beyond writing about them in this report.
It is my understanding that this company is under investigation due to its business practices. These include manipulative sales practices and strong-arm tactics when trying to cancel an account. Please remember that you are not alone, and that other people have been taken for a ride.
If you are looking them up on the Internet because you had a sinking feeling that you agreed to something that afterwards you realized you should not have, do not let your gut feeling slide.
This company has two offices, one in Florida and one in Nevada. It is my understanding that they have not been prosecuted to-date for their business practices because people are having trouble pinning just where the business came from and whose jurisdiction it is - but they are from both places.
If you gave them an account # to take an amount out monthly, I would have it changed immediately after calling to cancel your magazine account. This is because they may claim to have you taken off of their list, and then they can conceivably come back and start taking the money out again without your permission. Companies can get away with this because people do not keep a close eye on their account. Please, keep a close eye on your account. This is a precautionary measure if you do not feel comfortable with them, but ultimately up to you.
If you have given them a cell phone #, please watch your account or have your cell # changed because they can start billing that account if they no longer have access to your bank account. Again, this is a precautionary measure if you feel something is not right with their business practices.
If you do not want other people to fall victim, or simply do not want the knowledge that you have allowed such business practices to continue in your country, please contact the Attorney General in Florida and the Attorney General in Nevada... And file a complaint.
I would like to finish by saying that being in business for a long time does not make it legitimate, and agreeing to something on-tape does not mean the route taken to get you there was legitimate.
