Unauthorized stitched my company long distance

I was surprised when I got my monthly att bill for March. I had unlimited long distance with my att carrier until I got this bill. Discovered long distance charges via SILV communications (I never heard of)... And att slapped an early cancelation fee of $198.00. The problem??? I'd never authorized anyone to change my carrier...

Never got a call from anyone... They somehow just arbitrarily changed it... The ATT people were very helpful in resolving the issue, billed SILV back for the unauthorized charges and swap... Reversed the early cancelation fee. My question is, how could someone just do this?
