Our troubles with active periodicals began in early 2005. I got a call saying that i was in a 10,000 dollar drawing and would i like some free magazines. They then told me that in order to process the order for my free magazines that i would have to give them my credit card number for security purposes so being young and kinda naive, i did. They never told me it would cost anything and they said i could cancel at anytime. Two months later i found a charge coming out of my bank account going to them for forty dollars and when i called to cancel they said that i could not cancel and that it had all been explained to me when i ordered the magazines and that i was paying them back as they had paid the publishers in advance.
So i told them i was canceling my debit card and not paying them one more cent as i had not authorized any charges to come out of my account. They then began calling nonstop three or four times a day at all hours, usually starting at 8 am. Then they sent our names to a credit bureau (supposedly) and they call nonstop now. Well, tonight i found their website and i looked up their terms and conditions and it states clearly that you can cancel, they are just a bunch of liars who will stoop to any level to keep getting your money. I spoke to several people through them and they told me repeatedly that there was no way they could cancel my account. They told me also that they had a recorded conversation on file and it was legally binding, however, how can you have a legally binding contract without ever signing anything. Where i am from verbal statements don't mean anything and won't stand up in court. And also whenever they called there would be loud music playing in the background. They are nothing but a scam!
