Great Expectation ripoff Scam Misleading Hard Sell

I too was taked by the Great Expectation scam. Being an educated person, it wasn't easy to admit that I wasn't smart enough to realize this wasn't for real. Living a busy life style and being new to the area I thought GE was the perfect tool for me to meet that someone special.

Walking in to GE I found attractive-professional type women working at the counter. The office was nicely appointed. Pictures of couples were hung on the walls through out. The place would give anyone the impression that it was a legitimate business.

They went through the same sales job as is used with everyone else. This was going to make a big change in my life. It was something I needed to do for myself. I considered the price a bit steep but I was assured that I was getting a first rate personal service. I was told, "We do the screening for you!"

I was told this is where doctors and lawyers go to find a spouse. Having heard that and their success rate of 92% and there was hundreds of women waiting to meet someone like me, most people are dating within two weeks. I thought there was no way I could good wrong. Was I in for a surprise.

My first indication that something was not right was after I viewed the tapes. Out of the hundreds that I viewed only five would I have considered someone I might date. Some people would say I was too picky. I felt for several thousand dollars I should be selective but not unrealistic. I wasn't looking for Barbie. I wanted an attractive, professional lady, preferably the same religion, close to my age and kids didn't matter. Not too much to ask.

To make a long story short. I contacted several ladies with little to no success. After six months I was only able to reach one person on the list and they claimed to no longer be an active member. I was getting pretty discouraged.

The final straw for me was when I was contacted by a young lady from the service. She seemed like a really nice person but after a few minutes she mentioned that she was still married and asked me if I had a problem with that! I realized at that point the only screening that was done was weeding out those people that were unable to pay the membership fee.

I turned them into the BBB and took them to small claims court. The BBB was of no use and I later found out the GE was a member in good standing. Don't ask me how they made this possible.in court I lost because although they made all these claims of their service, nothing was in writing. Therefore it was my word against theirs.

GE pointed out the contract states there are no guarantees. I told the judge I didn't expect a guarantee but I did expect opportuntity for success. GE said I didn't give it enough time. I thought a year was long enough!

I have been a member in many dating services throughout my single life. I had never not met anybody before. As I stated in court, if this service was free it would have been a waste of my time and effort. As it is, my bank account is several thousand dollars less!

Somebody needs to stop this business before more people are scammed. There are far too many people that will lose money they can't afford to lose on a promise. What other business can you promise a service and not deliver?
