I am a current employee of NME. A couple of weeks ago all the SSA teams had a meeting where we were told that management and quality wold be cracking down on code of ethics violations. It seems that better homes and gardens magazine is SEVERLY cheesed at NME because one of their mystery callers (yes, we have mystery shoppers that work for the mags call in to use to see how we treat their potential customers.) called in and the SSA put them on hold for something like 45 min. The caller stayed on the line and was hung up on.
The SSA never came back on the line. Apparently BH&G called NME managment and raised holy hades. The result was a new policy where, if we as SSA's treat or badger a caller (badger being VERY loosely defined) then we will get written up and possibly fired. Also, if the infraction causes NME to loose money then the responsible SSA will be fined and forced to pay the company back the TOTAL amount that was lost. They say this policy is legal but i doubt it.
So i was just thinking that maybe if people across the country who have been ripped of by NME started sending emails to the mags and companies we upsell for and complain loud enough about how they have been cheated, then maybe these companies will start seeing that they are being viewed as guilty by association and will sever ties with NME.
Just an idea.
If anyone wants to try i will list some of the better mags we sell and the names of the upsell companies.
Also, i learned the other day that when a caller hangs up on us and we mark that the caller hung up in the call and they did not request to be put in no call / no mail, they will be automaiclly sent another post card in the next mailing.
What was that about badgering again?
