I remember reading this website when my husband was signing up for service. They kept promising him "no there is no contract!" "Yes your internet service will be just fine for this!" and I was crying in the background pleading "PLEASE DON"T SIGN UP FOR THIS!" but he did. He now admits I am always right:-)
They said our internet service cable lynx lite would work with this but it won't. It doesn't "upload" fast enough so all the calls sound choppy and sometimes can't even be heard. We called so many times and each time were "guaranteed" that it would work now. It didn't. They will say anything to get you to sign up and anything to keep you from canceling. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! We finally canceled today. I knew they would never give up on that 40 dollar fee. They said it was impossible to reverse fees, override fees or give credits.
I asked if someone made a mistake and charged our account thousands would that mean they couldn't reverse it? If they have no control over how much they charge and cant reverse fees then just beware they can charge you WHATEVER they want and they WILL. They said they can charge whatever they want and the only choice anyone has is to dispute the charge. I spent hours on the phone with them today and bugged the crap out of them. They even got mad and hung up on me. I told them I have nothing better to do then call every day for hours and harrass them... And guess what... I wasn't lying!
I have already called to get "new service" and was told AGAIN that the internet speed wasn't a problem and there is no contract. What do they consider a 40 dollar leaving before a year fee to be? They might have got the 40 dollars but now they have to deal with someone calling them every day, a dispute with my credit card company, bbb complaint and a rip off report.
Above all, PLEASE JUST DON'T SIGN UP FOR VONAGE! Every single time (way too many to name) we called them they would make stuff up. They are liars who send you to India anytime you have a complaint and could give a crap about you. Just DONT do it! Please!
