On my Verizon bill was a $13 charge from an ESBI for a VoiceMail service I never subscribed to or authorized billing to. When I contacted Verizon they were kind enough to communicate with ESBI with me on a conference call and ESBI said another person authorized this, yet it was not I. ESBI said, they would credit my account. I don't understand how any charge can be put on to your Verizon phone bill without providing personal information to authorize such charges. ESBI tells me all a person needs is a phone number to make charges to your verizon account.
How can this be? How can Verizon (or any other carrier) allow third party billing when we live in a world of identity theft? Who can stop this? Who and/or what agency is going to do something about this to help the working people are are getting screwed constantly?
