My spouse claimed bankruptcy and Lowes reported on my credit report that I was the one who declared bankruptcy and they are sending me, plus late fees. I contacted Lowes and told them I NEVER applied with my wife for a card, I have my own account which is in good standing. I requested a copy of the signed application to prove I was NOT a joint card holder and therefore should not be responsible for this debt and they should remove the negative remarks on my credit report and stop sending me bills.
Lowes refused to listen and sent me around to the credit, bankruptcy, and customer service departments, all leading to no help whatsoever. I contacted the credit bureaus, wrote letters and it remains on my credit report. This is not my debt and I was NEVER a joint card holder, Lowes refuses to furnish me with the allegedly "initial joint" credit application.
I feel Lowes was fraudulent in transferring this debt to my name. Also, I never received any correspondence saying they were doing this, in fact, I only received a bill in my name after calling them and telling them this is NOT my account.
