I opened an account with Alltell Wireless in the Dothan, AL office in April. I wanted a phone with 250 min of airtime and unlimited free nights and weekends and free long distance. I was offered that with a monthly charge of $39.95. When I went in to finish the paperwork the next day, a different clerk assisted me. After 3 hours of trying to get my phone activated I left the store. The first bill was wrong. I was only given credit for 200 min, no free nights and weekends, and monthly bill was $44.95.
I went into the store to ask for a correction and was told that there could not be a correction and the contract by the way was for 2 years.
I refused to pay the additional charges over $39.95 and the next month my bill was even more ridiculous. After 5 months of erroneous billing and constant sales clerk contact, I asked for an itemized statement of my account to date. I received two pages of incorrect information.
I called the customer service hotline and was told that was the way it is and I must not remember my calling information.
My phone was disconnected in November and has not been in use since. My bill is now over $1,000.00 and still no resolve.
My father has an account as well. Because this one is not resolved his has been disconnected and he is charged a monthly fee plus penalties. His account was paid on time every month. He has asked repeatedly for some assistance and has received none. His phone also has the reception problem with a full battery carge and was told to bring the phone in for a new one because it is faulty. He has exchanged phones three times. Now he has no service and the monthly charges are growing.
