I got a car repoed about 3 yrs ago. The bank did sell the car and that was the last I heard about it. Never a call ir letter stating that I owed them anything.
Then I get this call from an attorney's office (ww&r) stating that I have 3 days to pay them 6500 or i was being sued. The lady I spoke with was very rude and threatening.
I was completely dumfounded at first and very upset I didnt want to be sued so I told her I would see what I can do about getting the money and call her back.
I was told by her that I needed to let her know now if I would be able to come up with the money or she would just put the lawsuit through. I stated I didn't know and that I would have to try to apply for a loan which could take several days.
Well she has called me and harrassed me everyday since then. My boyfriend then wanted to speak with her (after I gave her permission to speak with him of course) to see what he could do cause she was listening to nothing I had to say. She hung up on him stating that she guesses she will just go ahead with lawsuit.
I then realized that I had not got a letter from this "attorney" validating the debt or who they were. I asked her to mail and fax a letter to me. She says that they have but have gotten return mail. Well that's funny because they have been checking my credit report and my current address is on there. She didn't want to send me the letter at first but finally agreed. Well its been a day since then and still no fax. I even sent her a fax validating my fax number and giving her permission to fax the letter to me.
I'm not questioning the validity of the debt, just the way they handle their cases. It's ridiculous. I won't be sending tem any money regardless if they threaten to sue me or not without something in writing.
