Wal-Mart
Employee Abuse, Customer Rip Off McDonough

I am very unhappy with the direction that Wal-Mart is going. For the last two weeks, when I have gone shopping, the stores have looked awful. There are NO employees to help the customers. There are NO managers. There are NO cashiers. There are NO checkout clerks. There are NO cart wranglers. I am very concerned with this. Mr. Walton was always so concerned with the employees and the customers and I feel that he is probably turning over in his grave right now.

My PERCEPTION of Wal-Mart is that all they care about is the almighty $. The employees no longer matter & the customers no longer matter. I spoke with a few employees at the 3 locations that I frequent and they all told me the same things.

1) Asst Mgrs are being eliminated. There will no longer be any department managers. There will now be 1 or 2 to cover each side of the store, grocery and gm.

2) All of the schedules are being changed to 7a-5p & 12p-10p on a 4 week rotation with different days off each week. The employees that I spoke with say they have been with the company for 10 years with the same schedule and days off all 10 yrs and now everything in their life has to change.

3) All Asst Mgrs will be rotating between jobs. So... We could have a bakery manager working on our cars??? A Photo Manager decorating our birthday cakes? What sense does that make? NONE!

4) The Asst Mgrs who's jobs are not being eliminated are having to take on 4x the responsibilities with NO extra pay.

5) The home office will now be making the schedules and there will be NO flexibility. What does someone in Bentonville know about what is going on in each individual store?

These are just some of the employee complaints, this spills over to me, the customer and I am not happy at all. I am more than what Wal-Mart refers to as the $40,000 customer, I spend a lot of money at several of their stores every week and I am feeling the fall out from their decisions.

1am on a Saturday, I did my shopping for the week, I had $438 worth of groceries and there was not one single cashier working, only self check out. Do you know how long it takes to ring up and bag $428 worth of groceries? I do, 45 minutes!

9pm on a Thursday, I was again grocery shopping, someone dropped a glass bottle of hot sauce in the middle of action alley, there was sauce and glass all over the place just outside of the produce department. Three customers took off to look for an employee, I stood by the spill to keep anyone from slipping, NO employee could be found. I poured your absoring powder on it and swept it up, that still left a huge red stain on the floor and we never did find someone to clean it.

Friday 10pm, I had a buggy full of groceries and beach items, the only like open was the cigarette line. I was 8 people back and when I got up to the register with my full buggy the cashier put her head in her hands on the belt and stayed that way for over a minute, she was not happy to have to ring up such a large purchase.

Tuesday 9am, out of date products all over the store, told by cust svs that there are not enough asst mgrs or employees to man the store and deal with the health issues.

I'm just really upset with Wal-Mart for how they are treating their customers and employees. They have loyal employees that they are loosing left and right because of this. They are causing problems for their employees families and turning their lives upside down. A few employees that I spoke with have part time jobs in addition to Wal-Mart and the new schedule that changes from week to week makes it impossible for them to keep the jobs that they need to keep a roof over their families heads. Is this how you reward your employees for all of their hard work? This is not a company that I want to give my hard earned money to anymore, as of this minute, I will not step foot, much less spend any money, in a Wal-Mart store until they start treating us all with the respect that we deserve!!!

Just remember, if you don't have employees that are dedicated and enjoy their jobs, Wal-Mart will NOT be profitable because when you loose the people that make our shopping experiences worth the gas money it takes to get there, you will then loose the customers who pay your salary and pad your pockets!
