On June, 14 I was standing with my little son in line to pay for our groceries. This was at a Wal-Mart store in Apache Jct., AZ.in front of us there was a bad smelling guy with a huge revolver at his side, he looked like he had broken out from some institution. Then there was some kind of dispute with the cashier and the guy turned extremely agressive. I feared that the next moment he would pull out his gun and start to shoot at everybody around him. Fortunately that did not happen but it has happened numerous times that gunmen started shooting at store employees and customers at McDonald's and other places.
I asked a Wal-Mart employee why they let people with weapons into their stores and she told me: "Because it is the law in Arizona."
This is absolute nonsense: there is no law in Arizona that businesses have to allow their customers to carry weapons in their stores. The stores have the right to put a sign onto their doors that tells their customers to leave their weapons outside. When I asked the store employee why they don't put a sign onto their door and when I told her that I don't feel safe at places where people run around who believe that you need a Smith & Wesson in order to buy a package of eggs, she told me: "It is not our fault, it is a corporate policy to let anybody with a weapon into our stores".
Nice company that cares more about the freedom of a few maniacs than about the safety of the other 99.99% of normal customers and their children.
