Ripoff waited 3 days for service, missed appointments, lousy connection, unhelpful staff

I recently chose charter communications as my cable and internet server (not much of a choice with cable, unless I go with a dish, but it seemed like a good idea to get everything on one bill). This was 2 weeks ago today. They first came out to install, and within 1 day, service was flickering in and out, on both internet and tv, and for 3 days, despite several calls, I was unable to get ON DEMAND... Finally, it mysteriously began to work. I thought I was in the clear, just a few little hiccups that had to be taken care of... Then 3 days ago, everything went out... Only my service, there was no area wide problem (so charter says).

They couldn't get anyone out that 1st day, which was irritating but understandable, but said sometime the next time between 8am and 8pm... I was a little aggravated that I had to wait the entire day for someone to show up... I work 3rd shift and that is my sleep and errand time... But accepted it. NO ONE ever showed up. So when I got suspicious around 7pm, I called, and they said there was no work order... Then asked me to wait the next day, 8-8, for them to come by, and went on to say they couldn't guarantee they'd be there then, but definitely by friday or saturday... To my amazement, when I became slightly irate and tried to explain my need for sleep to them, the rep said to me "Well, you only need six hours of sleep as an adult, right?"... I was infuriated by that point.

Apparently my fury was enough to get a tech out there ASAP, because he came, and fixed it... But after he left, it went out again... Come to find out, he didn't do everything he was supposed to... I then had to wait another day before everything was repaired. Not to mention the daytime minutes I wasted on my cell sitting on hold. I can understand delays, though they are frustrating, but the complete nonchalance on the part of the customer service agents was inexcusable. Every time I called, with the exception of one really nice man, really didn't care, and when I asked for a number to call a supervisor, I got a number to a local advertising agency... Deliberate? I dunno, but that agent had been very sarcastic (creator of the above 'sleep' comment) and I suspect it was not a number mixup.in any case, it seems most corporate companies don't care at all about satisfying the customer until there is decent competition... I can't wait for that day:-)
