10/20/05: I go into the LA Weight Loss Center after seeing an ad for 6 free weeks. I have to sign a form then they will tell me about the plan. I get the highlights of the plan then we start talking about my goal weight the they averaged 2lb weightloss a week and come up with 72 weeks for the program (that incudes the 6 free weeks) and a bill of over $1000.in a stunned state of shock I hesitated then I feel I was pressured into signing. I was very gung ho and had all intentions of loosing the weight so why wouldn't I sign the contract.
5 days later I go back in then get told about the dreaded LA Lites. That cost me an additional $2000 and I was really frustrated and upset that these were not discussed more during the initial visit. Even though on the contract I signed it stated how much the cost was, I had no idea how many I was going to need and that in order for me to qualify for a rebate I had to order the whole kit & kaboodle at once. So I reluctantly did.
I follow the plan religiously two months into the plan and all I've lost was 6lbs. They had changed this and that on the diet plan and had me do different things. Here the past couple months they had restricted my foods from the original plans. Basically, the only starches I was allowed was 40 cal. Bread and crackers - no potatoes, no rice, no pasta even though it is on plan. The only fruits I was allowed to have was berries and melons, no oranges, pineapple, apples, pears, grapes, etc.
6 months on plan and I've lost and gained the same 10lbs. That took me 2 months into the plan to lose it the first go around. I discussed my aggravation and after a long discussion with the center's manager, Beth she finally gave me a complaint form to fill out. That was a joke. It had about 1/4 page for your complaint. Then I turned it over and wrote another 3/4 page.
I've basically been denied a refund. I'm trying to determine my best course of action. I've already contacted the news station, but have yet to hear anything. I'm not sure if I should call every day till I aggravate them so much they give in, go down to the center and tell all new people that come in the plan is not worth the expense, contact an attorney (they'll just take half if I do get anything). I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau shortly. If anyone has any better ideas that would be great.
