In July I contracted with Nationwide Moving & Storage, 4580 S. Valley View Blvd #B4, Las Vegas, NV 89103 to pick up and move my belongings from Phoenix, Az. To Louisville, Ky. Without my permission or knowledge they brought them to Las vegas to weigh them, upon weighing them, the price went from the agreed upon $1200 to their price of $2500, when I told them I did not have that kind of money they agreed to store my belongings at price of $100 a month, until I could get the money to have my things delivered, I sent them $600 as a down payment towards the storage, In January of I was contacted regarding my belongings, I was told that if I did not come up with the money by the end of January, my things would be sold at auction, I tried dilegently to try to get the money, but could not come up with the $2500 and told them I did not have the money, I was told my things would be sold at auction.
In Janauary of 2006 I got a call from Anna who asked me what I wanted o do with "my things", I said what things, she said the things you have in storage, I told her that I thought my things had been sold at auction, she said no, by then, after 2 yrs had passed, the cost had gone from $2500 to a little over $4800, I was surprised my things were still there, again I told them I would try to take out a loan to get our things, Anna told me our things would not be sold, less than a week later, someone by the name of Guy called and said that if I did not send them the money to pay for the cost of storage and move, they would again, sell my things at auction, well, this pissed me off, I contacted the Better Business Bureau, and The Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration, Im March, I got a letter from the owner, shai mizrahi, who said I needed to provide an address so they could deliver my things to settle my complaints, they wanted me to sign a release saying I would stop writing complaints to the media, and any federal agencies, I agreed if ALL my things were sent to me, and with no dmamage, and that they would unload my things, I asked them how many men were coming, I was told 2-3 it took them a month to deliver my items, when the driver got here, he was alone, I had to physically assist the driver Emil in the unloading of my belongings, Emil went on to tell me he used to work for Nationwide, and that the owner, and a man by the name if "Mike" were very dishonest, how it was not unusual for things to be damaged and missing, and that the missing items were not missing, but stolen by those who worked for Nationwide. When I got my things inside and started going through them, I realized there was alot of damge, and many missing items, damage to a 27" tv, it was broken in the front, it looked as though it had been dropped, when I plugged it in, and looked at the picture, the picture confirmed it had been dropped, there was an appliance stand destroyed, a video rack torn apart, but it was the missing items that really upset me: a shotglass collection with over 120 shot glasses, porcelin figurines, videos, video game system with games, collector actions figures, a scanner, a brand new printer (bought in Dec) some small appliances.
I tried to contact Nationwide Moving & Storage and get them to settle, they referred me to their claims department who was no help at all, they told me it was up to the carrier to make a settlement claim, all I am asking is $2000.00, the cost of replacing the lost and damaged items is at least $4800.00
